Carlyn Janus was born and raised in the Chicago area and went on to complete her Fine Arts degree at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Her inspiration for painting landscapes is derived from spending time as a child walking and playing along the Lake Michigan coastline. The colorful and textural images she creates in her works are simultaneously abstract and representational. Each painting suggests the atmosphere of waves, fog, dunes, beach, rocky shores…colors and moods of the lake area.
Janus currently resides and works in her New York City studio. Her paintings are in collections in Canada and the United States.
