“Yellow Contrasts”

By Ken Elliott

Sold (Unframed)

Elliott is well known as a colorist, having studied under the famous Wolf Kahn. He got his start by aiding an art restorer in Texas, as well as working as a picture framer, where he often handled artworks destined for museums, galleries and important private collections. He later spent a good deal of time In California where he was exposed to the wonderful varieties of the California landscape. While in California he developed an interest in photography, as well as seriously beginning to draw and paint. Elliott’s style employs rich colors and his subjects seem to vibrate on the canvas. In his own words: “My focus is the landscape and its rich store of ideas and inspiration. I am compelled to work from the trees, skies, lakes and streams in their endless variations. I don’t try to recreate nature or attempt storytelling. Instead, the works are simplifications and exaggerations of nature.” Ken works from his home and studio in Colorado. His paintings are inspired by the Aspens in his surrounding environment.
